There is no doubt that this can be a sensitive subject, but every adult should have a will. Even if a person may have lost the capacity to manage their own financial affairs – this does not always mean they have lost the capacity to make a Will (see Statutory Wills).
Not all wills are equal as some just don’t do the job at all! There are many non-solicitor will writing services offering apparently unbeatable prices whose only real concern may be to cross-sell you policies and funeral plans leaving you with a bill for many hundreds or thousands of pounds. Remember your will is the most important document you will ever sign so make sure it has been drafted by a qualified, experienced and above all independent solicitor.
